Climate Treaties: Time for a new approach

Why have decades of international climate negotiations failed to meet their objectives? Could a new approach focused on specific sectors, technology shifts, and systemic change offer a more effective path forward?

For 35 years, climate negotiators have focused on an approach that has failed to achieve the objectives they say must be met.

In this lecture, Scott Barrett (Lenfest-Earth Institute Professor of Natural Resource Economics, SIPA & Earth Institute) will examine alternative strategies for reshaping the future of climate treaties. Geoffrey Heal (Donald C. Waite III Professor Emeritus of Social Enterprise, Columbia Business School) will serve as a discussant.

The lecture, hosted by the Center for Political Economy, will be followed by a reception.
